Travis Kelce, the talented tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has undoubtedly surpassed Tim Tebow in terms of their respective NFL careers.
Kelce’s exceptional performance on the field virtually guarantees his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame once he decides to retire from the game. On the other hand, Tebow’s time in the league was short-lived, lasting only three seasons after being drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft.
While Kelce dominates the NFL scene, Tebow will forever be celebrated as a legendary figure in college football. During his time at the University of Florida, Tebow achieved greatness by winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy and establishing himself as one of the most exceptional college athletes in history.
Despite his lackluster NFL career, Tebow’s impact and legacy continue to resonate, which is why we still discuss him today.
Speaking of reminiscing, Kelce recently shared a recollection during an appearance on “Pardon My Take.” He recounted a particular memory from the 2010 Sugar Bowl when his University of Cincinnati team faced off against Tebow and the Florida Gators.
“I vividly remember Tim Tebow leading the Florida Gators to a resounding victory over us in the Sugar Bowl,” Kelce shared (h/t On3). “We were undefeated, and Brian Kelly had just departed for Notre Dame after the season. Our team consisted of players who were like dads or staff members from the University of Cincinnati.”
“We entered the game against arguably one of the greatest college football teams ever assembled—the Florida Gators,” Kelce continued. “It was an incredible experience. Despite the criticism of Tebow’s throwing ability, he managed to amass around 500 passing yards.”
"They said Tebow couldn't throw. Well, he threw for like 500 yards that day."

Although Tebow’s actual passing yards in that game didn’t reach 500, Kelce’s recollection is quite accurate.
In his final collegiate appearance, Tebow completed 31 of 35 passes for 482 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 51 yards and scored another touchdown.
The Gators overwhelmed Kelce’s Bearcats, triumphing with a score of 51-24, and the future renowned tight end didn’t even record a catch in that game.
