New Yorkers: The City That Never Sleeps (Even After an Earthquake)
The Big Apple may have just been rattled by its biggest earthquake in decades, but the city’s spirit remained unshaken. In true New York fashion, one enterprising shop on the Upper West Side wasted no time capitalizing on the moment with a hilarious twist.
Mere minutes after the tremors subsided on Friday, Big Frog Custom T-Shirts was churning out “I SURVIVED THE NYC EARTHQUAKE” shirts. Shop owner Kerry Colley reported an “insane” response, with “a few hundred shirts” sold already and a line that wouldn’t quit.
Apparently, New York hustle extends to disaster merch. Thanks to direct-to-garment printing, these meme-worthy tees were priced at a steal ($10 each), further fueling the frenzy. The shop itself didn’t even start the viral trend – a customer did!
“We didn’t even post it—someone else did,” Colley chuckled. “Somebody else made us go viral. Two hours later, somebody showed me that we were going viral and had 1.95 million views.”

Even a California transplant couldn’t resist the New York humor: “I mean—this is the funniest shirt of all time,” they remarked.
This story perfectly captures the essence of New York City – a place where resilience and wit collide, even in the face of unexpected events.
