Nuggets Nikola Jokic welcomed back to Serbia with epic billboard after NBA Finals win

As the anticipation builds for the return of Serbian basketball star and Denver Nuggets hero Nikola Jokic, his hometown of Sombor is preparing to give him a hero’s welcome like no other.

While it may come as a surprise that Jokic’s return has been delayed, especially after his emphatic desire to head back home immediately following the Nuggets’ championship victory over the Miami Heat, plans have taken a different turn. The 28-year-old, known for his modesty, wholeheartedly embraced the celebrations and positive energy of Denver’s victory parade. In fact, he displayed a level of animation in public that fans hadn’t witnessed before.

Though much of Jokic’s private life remains unknown, Nuggets fans have gained insight into the passions that drive him. His love for horse racing and his close bond with his unique and daring brothers have made him a captivating personality in the NBA. His loyalty, humor, numerous accolades, and now an NBA championship ring all warrant the construction of a billboard in his honor.

Serbia has been celebrating a string of historic moments recently, with tennis player Novak Djokovic securing his 23rd Grand Slam title, the most ever achieved, in the French Open Final. Now, it’s Jokic’s turn to revel in national pride, unless there happens to be an impromptu trip to Disney World or some other unexpected adventure.

The festivities took an unexpected turn when they reached Las Vegas, a city already glowing with its own championship triumph as the Golden Knights claimed the Stanley Cup in only their sixth year of existence. Jokic and his teammates appeared to be enjoying themselves, with the big man dancing the night away. Presumably, his next destination will be Sombor, where his beloved horses eagerly await his return.
