Mandy Patinkin’s latest holiday fashion statement is anything but traditional
Hollywood icon Mandy Patinkin is breaking all the rules this holiday season with his unique fashion choices. Instead of the usual festive sweaters and cozy scarves, Patinkin is rocking cutoff denim shorts, ankle-high UGG boots, and a Ricky Martin t-shirt. He even accessorized with a pair of kitchen tongs!
Patinkin shared his inspiration for the outfit on Instagram, saying that he got it from his yoga instructor. In a video, he tells his followers that he’s “always had” his father’s legs, and that he was feeling inspired to explore a new side of his style.

Patinkin’s father was a big inspiration to him, especially while filming The Princess Bride. In the movie, Patinkin plays Inigo Montoya, a skilled swordsman seeking vengeance for his father’s death. Patinkin has said that his father’s death helped him connect with the character on a deeper level.
The Broadway legend is known for his work on TV shows like Criminal Minds and Homeland, as well as the 1983 Barbara Streisand movie Yentl. He’s also a bit of a social media star, with a zany TikTok account that he runs with his wife of 43 years, Kathryn Grody.
The couple’s TikTok account is full of funny videos of them interacting with their adult son, as he quizzes them on pop culture knowledge. (They typically score low marks.) In one recent video, their son asked them to finish the Kit-Kat jingle: “Break me off a piece of that…”
“Cake!” Patinkin and Grody both shouted, incorrectly.
Later, Mandy Patinkin suggested that Coachella was a chocolate spread, mistaking the desert music festival for Nutella.
The actor also occasionally interacts with fans and followers on his TikTok account. He recently responded to someone who commented on his holiday outfit, saying that the UGG boots really tied the whole thing together.
“I think it’s the tongs that make it work,” Patinkin responded, referencing the functional fashion accessory he’s seen playing with in the video.
The video ends with an offscreen observer noting that the day was a day “for all the daddies,” prompting the Patinkin/Grody account to leave a separate eyebrow-raising comment on the video.
“What is zaddy?” the account pondered, referencing the slang term for an attractive older man.
Patinkin’s latest fashion statement is sure to turn heads this holiday season. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to break the rules and express yourself in whatever way makes you feel good. So go ahead and put on your favorite cutoff shorts and UGG boots, and strut your stuff with confidence!
